Easy Ways To Deal with Depression

People who are affected by depression are often not motivated to seek the help they need. Even when they are cajoled to visit a doctor, they typically believe they will be handed over a prescription for some antidepressants or perhaps convinced into attending some talk therapy. They never think they could be asked questions about what they are eating, whether they have been tested for hypothyroidism or when they last had their vitamin levels tested.

People have their misconceived notions because they typically do not understand that prescription medications have their place. Also, they fail to understand that pills cannot cure depression. Medications, after all, come with a set of side effects. Every time a symptom is suppressed another one takes its place. After considering these matters, doctors and therapists now ask proper questions about the victims’ diet and the lifestyle. As such, they can treat all aspects to the person’s mind, body and spirit.

Research has proven that getting the questions right can have a significant impact on depression. Unfortunately, a few doctors and many people seem to be unaware of this information.

“I start to think there really is no cure for depression, that happiness is an ongoing battle, and I wonder if it isn’t one I’ll have to fight for as long as I live. I wonder if it’s worth it.”— Elizabeth Wurtzel

High-Quality Fats are Great For Dealing with Depression

You may have difficulties believing this, but having an appropriate diet is a key in your battle against depression. Research has proven that a link exists between depression and nutrition. Many of us do not get significant amounts of good natural fat in our diet. Moreover, we do everything possible to avoid fats under the belief that it may lead to unwanted weight gain. We have also been fed with information about healthy fats increasing cardiac risks. It is now time to put these matters behind once for all.

Late last year, the U.S. government accepted that dietary cholesterol is not as harmful as a cardiac risk as it has been mentioned for some decades. It has now been confirmed that the main culprit is sugar. The processed food industry must be thanked for shifting the blame on fat.

Omega-3 Fats Help In Dealing with Depression

Patients who suffer from depression are deficient in omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. They also suffer from significantly lower levels of EPA and DHA at their cellular levels. Research has confirmed that an overall improvement in the condition of depression victims consume omega-3 supplements.

Omega-3 fatty acids are primarily found in eggs and liver. They are also found in smaller quantities in certain other animal fats. Humans also have the capability to synthesize small quantities of arachidonic acid, which is found in omega-6 linoleic acid from plant oils and animal fats. Vitamin A, which is found in animal fats is crucial for the conversion and regulation of the adrenal hormone cortisol to support the feel-good chemicals within our bodies.

Vitamin D can also interact with vitamin A to maintain the calcium levels needed within the blood. Therefore, when you consume nutrient-dense fats in your regular diet, you are getting vitamin A, arachidonic acid, vitamin D, vitamin K, and omega-3 fatty acids. This will not only help you to prevent and mitigate division along with anxiety but will also improve your focus, mood, and concentration.

“Recession is when a neighbor loses his job. Depression is when you lose yours.”— Ronald Reagan

Depression can also be aggravated by a condition of hypothyroid symptoms. People with depression generally believe they have a problem in their minds. As such, they believe that the various body organs have no role to play. Unfortunately if an evaluation of hypothyroid symptoms is conducted, the likelihood of finding the cause of depression increases. Physicians and doctors may also recommend a test to determine the vitamin B and vitamin B12 levels. These vitamins play a major role in producing brain chemicals that affect mood and other functions. Under the circumstances, if you want to find an easy solution to depression, be ready to take the recommended tests.
