Bette Midler’s $50 Million To-Die-For NYC Penthouse Finally Finds Its New Owner!
Multiple Grammy Award-winning actor, singer, comedienne, and author, Bette Midler, has proven herself to be an excellent performer in a wide array of both comedic and dramatic roles. 1979 marked the year that kickstarted her career in Hollywood, and there was no looking back after that. By 2021, the celebrity has built a net worth of $270 million with decades in the industry.
Spilling the Tea
In September 2019, Bette Midler and husband Martin von Haselberg listed their NYC penthouse for $50 million. Needless to say, with such a hefty price tag, it would be some time before a buyer would be found to seal the deal. Luckily, after two long and uncertain years, the penthouse has finally fallen into the hands of a new owner. Plus, the final closing price hasn’t been disclosed either.
Inside the Penthouse
Sitting within an Emery Roth–designed Fifth Avenue building, the penthouse spanned three floors and was made out of two apartment units. Taking up a massive 7000-square-feet of space, it contains 14 bedrooms and a spacious gallery accessed through an en-suite lift.
The bottom floor serves as the living and entertaining space. It hosts a renovated dine-in kitchen with marble countertops, state-of-the-art appliances, and custom wood cabinetry. The entire floor features all-around high ceilings through the living and dining rooms. Here, you can also find the guest bedroom and home office.
The second floor hosts the bedrooms, two of which enjoy ensuite dressing areas and bathrooms and offer to-die-for views of Central Park. Moreover the master bedroom, moreover, features large windows to let in maximum natural light and offer optimal views, a wood-burning fireplace, and a study. The floor also holds a sizeable family and laundry room, as well as three additional bedrooms.
The third floor holds a deluxe library with floor-to-ceiling bookcases, a wood-burning fireplace, and oversized windows offering Reservoir and Central Park views. Finally, a penthouse isn’t complete without a rooftop – this one comes with 360-degree views and a 900-square-foot garden.
Wrapping It Up
The Divine Miss M. shared with the New York Times that the couple has been wanting to downsize ever since her daughter moved out. With only each other left to share a home with, Bette and her husband thinks it’s time for another couple to enjoy the home now. And now, with two long years on the market, they’ve found the perfect family to hand it over to!
