Born in 1943 in Galveston, Texas, Valerie Perrine started her career as a showgirl in Las Vegas, way before she made her name in Hollywood. She entered the entertainment industry with a bang; her portrayal of Montana in 1972’s Slaughterhouse-Five was celebrated.

However, it was the 1974 flick, Lenny, that opened up more opportunities, garnering praises from the critics for her exceptional performance. She grabbed the Cannes Film Festival award for best actress and BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles for this movie. Valerie also played Ms. Teschmacher in the 1978 film Superman.
