Barbra Streisand – Then
While many music aficionados know who Barbra Streisand is, not everyone knows how she started. She grew up wanting to become an actress but fell in love with theater at 14 after seeing The Diary of Anne Frank production. In 1962 she got a minor Broadway role in I Can Get It For You Wholesale, which earned her a Tony nomination.
Some of her most celebrated works include the screen adaptation of Funny Girl in 1964, a project that won her an Oscar. Barbra cemented her status as one of the most successful artists in the ’60s and became one of the most sought-after singers and actresses by the ’70s.
