Betty White is just one year away from becoming a centenarian, but don’t expect her to announce that she’s quitting showbiz anytime soon. When she joined the industry in the ’40s, executives didn’t think her look would sell. Radio helped kick her career, and by 1945, she crossed over to the big screen.
White has enjoyed an incredibly long and ground-breaking career. Most notably, she set a precedent in the ’50s as the first woman to headline a sitcom with her starring role in Life with Elizabeth. Recently, she graced our screens on a 2021 episode of Hollywood Insider titled Celebrating 99 Years of Betty White: An Icon.
