Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi flipping their English Tudor home

Ellen DeGeneres has been continually saying that she is not a house flipper and doesn’t usually switch from one home to another. Yet, the talk show host and her partner Portia de Rossi’s capacity to flipping homes for large margins is practically unchallenged.

The whiz couple bought the Montecito based unique English Tudor home for $3.6 million and are now looking forward to maximizing their profits by double. The couple held onto the house for four months until they listed it again for a hefty $6.9 million.

Alongside this home, De Rossi and DeGeneres also hold the right to call two other properties their home. They are both situated in the Montecito area and include a Balinese styled compound that was bought by them in 2019 and a fixer-upper that is present beside the compound which they also bought last year.

Renovations and upgrades

The new sticker price is backed by the renovations and superior redesigns De Rossi and DeGeneres made to the 5500 square feet dwelling. The house boasts about a newly furnished laundry room, a premium upgraded kitchen and recently renovated washrooms. Other necessary changes that were done on the home include installation of modern lights styled like delicate paper lanterns and paint coating on the overly exposed fireplaces made of brick.

Interior settings

The property presents the charm of the old world. It encompasses two rooms and 2.5 washrooms, which are built on two separate places interconnected through a solarium that is made of glass. Interestingly, these structures were initially barns, which were built in the 1700s and were moved to California from England. The home has tall and visible beam ceilings covered by plank hardwood, while floors are made with tiles.

Luxurious details

One exciting aspect of the house is the study room, which is designed in octagonal shape and is lined entirely with 28-pane casement windows. The remarkable blueprint of the house has an added variety of lofted lounges and cozy bedrooms.

A lofted den is also a part of the property that looks over the living rooms. The bedroom holds the charm of having its own fireplace, which is located just in the living room. Other luxurious aspects of the house include a gym space, a 3-car garage, a fully furnished basement, and a workshop with a separate restroom.

It has been reported by numerous publishing websites that Tom Neilson, a famous landscape architect, designed the exquisite gardens, which are pretty prominent with the presence of wildflowers and fully grown trees.
