The RIGHT Way to Start Living a Healthier Life!

Everything starts from within. If you decide it’s time to be happy, you can make yourself happy. If you decide to become more successful, you can also do it. Same goes for your health. Generally, you have to make the first step – decide to become healthier, and we will tell you how to do the rest. OK, we are not talking about giving up on all the things you love in your life, we are just saying if you want to. As Mr. Spock would say, “live long and prosper,” you need to start doing these things.

Give up on hardcore soft drinks

The first step is always the toughest to handle. Soft drinks are full of sugar and additives and are generally atrocious for your body. Don’t go cold turkey. Replace the ones you usually drink with low-sugar options, like Coke Zero or Pepsi Max. The amount of sugar in them is insignificant, and the taste is not terribly different. You will get used to it in time, and in return, you will do a huge favor to your body, because it will no longer have to process massive amounts of sugar.

Your inspiration? Just look at videos that explain what these drinks are doing to your organism.

Choose a physical activity

Yes, we know -your day is already full as it is. You never have time to socialize, rest or read a book. Still, exercises will help your health. Pick one – 15 minutes of intense physical activity a day can make a difference. It doesn’t matter if you run, swim, lift weights or do yoga.  Fifteen minutes will make you healthier, happier and better looking.

It is hard to find inspiration for this, we know. It’s a lot easier if you make a playlist of energetic songs for those 15 minutes. It will not only lift your heartbeat but also your spirit.

Choose a mental activity

This already sounds boring, right? Well, suffer through the explanation. If you make your brain work hard for at least 15 minutes a day, it will reduce your chances for dementia or Alzheimers, and improve your general memory. The easiest way is to start learning a new skill. Download Duolingo and start learning a language you have always been interested in. You could also start learning how to code, or how to do graphic design, how to draw, write…there is plenty of things…free…online…

We know it’s hard to motivate yourself, but every new skill turns out to be useful at some point in your life, and who knows, one of these just might take your career in an entirely new direction.

Socialize at least once a week

It may sound ridiculous, but, spending quality time with your friends is just what the doctor prescribed. When you are surrounded with people you love, your entire body functions better. Your circulation improves, your stress levels are diminished, your breathing evens out, your digestive system functions better… Happiness is the key. Find the time to be happy with people. Humans are social animals, and we strive when we are among those like us.

Eat red, green and yellow every day

No, we didn’t mean that you need to find colorful macaroons – but still, you get points for creativity. What we meant, is that you need vegetables and fruits in your everyday meals and that one of each of these colors is the best way to go. Basic colors go for your basic needs. Why?

Green – lettuce, broccoli, spinach, avocado, cucumber –  green color in your food means a lot of calcium, which is great for bone development and maintenance. Green is also full of dietary fibers that help your digestive tract. Not to mention that vitamin A is most often found in green fruits and veggies – and it helps your body process nutrients.

Yellow – lemon, banana, bell pepper, pear, pineapple – sunny hues represent happiness, joy, and hope. Yellow fruits and vegetables are full of carotenoids and bioflavonoids, which are a class of water-soluble plant pigments that function as antioxidants. Along with that, sunny-colored foods also have a bunch of vitamin C.

Red – tomato, apple, strawberry, beat – red and bright pink fruits and vegetables contain phytochemicals, like lycopene and anthocyanins. Phytochemicals are substances found only in plants, and they help your body fight disease and promote good health.

Give these pieces of advice a shot, and within a week you will feel better, healthier, happier and filled with energy. You could start even today!
