In 2022, Russia held the Makeup Under Camouflage beauty contest exclusively for female military members. Despite the criticism it received due to the ongoing Ukrainian invasion, this was an indication of a large number of stunning women in Russia’s armed forces.
The participants of the contest were judged not only on their appearance but also on their skills and talents, and it aimed to encourage young women’s interest in increasing the military’s recruitment.
