4 Tips To Stay Healthy and Fit This Winter Season

We bet most of us had weight loss as one of our New Year’s resolution for 2017. After all, it’s one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions around the world; to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the hardest to accomplish because you need strong willpower to resist the temptations around you. Take into consideration the fact that starting a diet in the first quarter of the year might be tricky because it’s the winter season.
Most of us dread winter because it’s the season when the surroundings are mostly dark, cold, and there is a chilly breeze wind lulling us to sleep. We couldn’t really blame you for getting lazy and preferring to just hibernate rather than be physically active. You don’t really have a choice but to stay indoor!. Not to mention, it’s also the flu season. If you got sick, it would be a major hindrance to your healthy workout regimen. While the winter season does provide these obstacles in attaining your goal, you shouldn’t give it power over you. You should strive to become healthy now more than ever so that you won’t end up getting sick.
How do we keep ourselves healthy and ensure ourselves that we’re fulfilling our New Year’s resolution? Here are our top 4 tips to stay healthy and fit this winter season.
1. Stay Hydrated
We all know that the cold is very harsh in the winter season. It dries out your skin, lips, nails, and hair. Being the largest organ of the body, your skin gets very dry until it cracks. Pretty nasty, isn’t it? Applying creams and moisturizers help maintain your skin, though it’s only a temporary measure. The best way to maintain your skin’s natural glow is to keep yourself hydrated. Remember that the body is made of 70% water, so by staying hydrated, your skin and hair won’t dry up because they are receiving the proper nutrients to help fight against the dryness brought on by the harsh cold, Winter Breeze.
2. Exercise Regularly

Just because you feel lazy to do any exercises outside, doesn’t mean you should use that as an excuse, not to workout. So what if you cannot go outdoors for your morning run, or if you cannot go to the gym because of the thick layers of ice on the street? It’s not a reason for you not to exercise. In fact, your home is a perfect venue to do indoor exercising!
So, instead of running outside, run on your treadmill if you have one. If you don’t, that’s okay! You can turn on your speaker and just dance! Or you can do your rounds of squats and walk on your stairs. Get creative! There’s always an exercise workout you can do in your own home! Get on YouTube if you need some inspiration.
3. Embrace the Winter Veggies
Since the winter season is the perfect time to cook delicious soups, take advantage of the new season by buying winter veggies and include them in all your recipes. It’s the perfect time for you to be exploring and trying new winter recipes that you haven’t tasted before. You can try Jicama, Kohlrabi, Endive, and Spaghetti Squash. And we assure you, it tastes just as delicious as your favorite veggies. Not to mention, you would be saving a few bucks too!
4. Sleep Longer

We all know that winter has longer nights than days, so why not take this opportunity to have a long soulful sleep? Make up for all the lack of sleep you had missed during the rest of the year. It’s time for you to relax your body by getting enough sleep. Since work days are lessened during winter, embrace your free time; sit back, relax, and sleep. Instead of worrying about your everyday struggles just to meet deadlines, you can recharge from all the grinding of your usual hectic schedule.
The winter season may be tough, but with conscious effort and willpower to change your health, you can overcome this season while staying healthy and fit.
